Failing a required smog inspection can result in the DMV's denial of your vehicle's registration renewal. If your vehicle fails the smog inspection, you must have it repaired and retested. The Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) has a Consumer Assistance Program that may be able to offer financial assistance for emissions-related repairs or vehicle retirement.
