Why does the DMV require me to go to a STAR Certified Station?

The DMV requires certain vehicles to visit a STAR Station for one of two main reasons:

1. Random Selection: Your vehicle was randomly chosen as part of a state sample to ensure overall testing accuracy.

2. High Emitter Profile: Your vehicle type (based on make, model, and year) has been identified as having a higher than average potential to fail, or your specific vehicle failed a previous test with very high emissions.
